Birger Kaipiainen Arabia Invenit 1987.
“VIOLA – A PIECE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIOLET SEA
is immortalized in honor of the unique artist, Professor Birger Kaipiainen. He gave ceramic art its own style direction. Mysterious, fairy-tale-like stories. Strong colors, rich lushness full of imagination.
This violet dish is a memory of the artist’s most famous work, the monumental Violet Sea, completed in 1967 for the Monteral World Exhibition. There, viewers waited in long lines to see the spoken, enchanting work.
The violet dish is a unique, individually hand-decorated art piece and a collector’s item. From three sizes of dishes, the owner can create their own violet sea in the style of the original work.
The artist worked at the beloved and respected Arabia for nearly 50 years.”
Sizes of the violet dishes: 145 mm x 130 mm, 276 mm x 253 mm x 48 mm, and 550 mm x 490 mm x 70 mm.The original Violet Sea is 9 x 4.5 m. The work is in the Tampere City Council chamber.
